Mien-hwa Chiang is a senior lecturer in Foreign Languages in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania. She joined Penn in year 2000 as the head of the Chinese Language Program (CLP), after teaching at Harvard University, Princeton University, Columbia University Summer Program in Beijing, and Middlebury Summer Chinese School. She has 30 years of experience in Chinese language and culture teaching and likes to utilize innovative approaches and technology in course development and improvement. She had been awarded more than $1 million in grants for the Penn Chinese Language Program. Her research and teaching in recent years focused on Teaching Chinese for Specific Purposes, including Business Chinese, Media Chinese and the upcoming Legal Chinese.
