Workshop: Machine Translation in the Foreign Language Classroom

Date:
Friday, December 9, 2022 - 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Location:
Williams Hall, Cherpack Lounge, Room 543

This workshop on machine translation will first review the history of machine translation (MT) and language learning, offering participants a research-informed background into the various applications of MT. Then, participants will reflect on their current MT practices in the foreign language classroom. Lastly, participants will collaboratively apply the ADAPT model (Knowles, 2022) to their language learning context. Participants will leave with a better understanding of machine translation and its role in language teaching and learning, as well as with a graphic organizer designed to assist with MT- integrated assessment.

Lunch will be provided. Please sign up in advance.
