This workshop was designed as a follow up to the Fall 2023 workshop focused on authentic reading practices. Participants will be introduced to key concepts including Genre Theory and the Teaching-Learning Cycle in order to support the successful implementation of purposeful written communications. Takeaways include frameworks for pre-planning writing lessons as well as for undertaking writing lessons while in class with students. Lastly, participants will leave with an approach to help students learn about a variety of genres and the writing and language mechanisms associated with each type.
