“POST” PANDEMIC TEACHING: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
September 17, 2021| 11am-12pm | Virtual
What have we learned from remote language instruction, and how will that influence our approach to our courses in the future? What changes or updates have you made to your curriculum, syllabus or class activities for Fall 2021? What topics need to be included in your courses, now more than ever? This workshop will provide resources for instructors, as well as a forum to ask questions and share best practices for our “new normal”. You will also have a chance to hear more about the other workshops coming up in Fall ‘21.
DESIGNING FOR MOBILE
October 9, 2021 | 11am-12:30pm | Hybrid
The learner experience on a smartphone does not mirror the experience on a desktop or a laptop, but many students use their devices to do classwork, review instructor feedback, and more. Knowing this, how can you make sure that students have the access they need to the Assignments, feedback and documents that you load to Canvas? In this workshop we will talk about the Canvas app for instructors and for students, how to create materials that are able to be viewed on mobile devices, and learn recommendations for which activities are best suited for mobile and which should be left to the big screen.
UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LEARNING
November 19, 2021 | 11am-12:30pm | Hybrid
Universal Design for Learning, also known as UDL, at a quick glance, gives all students an equal opportunity to succeed, builds in flexibility in course design, and increases learner motivation. In this workshop we will learn the tenets of UDL, their relevance to language learning, and how we can connect principles to practice.
